{are we babies??!!}

It started out about 3 years ago...
I would get woke up around 5am to the sound of hair-dryers a screeching, showers dumping, and alarm clocks shrilling... and I knew if I didn't find something to help sleep in those wee morning hours of precious sleep I would perpetually be a 'BEAR'  to those precious dark-skinned Navajo's....
So I bought this-

and it changed my life!!!
I could sleep.. right smack up until MY alarm rang!! I was addicted. Totally.
I have taken this 'sound machine' everywhere with me... really. (except I think I forgot on our honey moon... I guess I must have slept??!!)
But wait there is more!!!
Guess how many nights it took for James to all of sudden say (after we were all 'tucked in'!!) 'the sound machine isn't on!!!!!!!!' not very many .. a week? two? not sure. but He was now addicted as well.'
So to say the least- this baby ran for 3 years pretty much 24/7/369.
Last week it DIED. dumb me packed it in the front of my suitcase on my way form Montreal to Calgary. and when I plugged it in at my Mum's- the green 'on' light came on but NO NOISE. (and yes, hubs is electrician, so everything was checked... but to no avail.)
So, for 4 nights we have somehow managed to fall asleep with out the sound of the crashing waves in the back ground...
until today I was done. I went to Tarjay and bought this-

it was ALL  they had besides the 'lil sheepy' ;)

haven't you always wanted to fall asleep to 'rock a bye'??
yes. indeed. I do feel like a baby...

not a regular.

When my sister took me to the airport in Calgary on Tuesday, we had ourselves a good laugh...

We saw this guy in the parkade painstakingly washing his jeep windows with a little sponge.

ok. so you are not laughing? Do you know why you are not laughing???

Because you have never been to Alberta in the middle of February.
It is a known fact that in winter time in Alberta vehicles turn a greyish brown colour and stay that way for the remainder of the season which is around 8 months. If you are of a sane mind and you happen to get the urge to wash your vehicle you take in a few facts first. Those of which include- The roads are DRY. the roads are  dry and the roads are dry. If all of these seem to add up than you wash your vehicle. (knowing very well in your head that with in 2 minutes of being on the raod you will have used up half of your washer fluid on your front window)  But if the roads are not dry and you wash your truck there are only 2 things that can be true-
#1- You are going to be taking a very important person along with you in your ride.

ps- happy birthday James!!!!! you are my rock star :)

Friday, February 18, 2011 came!

It seems interesting to me how sometimes we are tested. Told one thing , get upset. and the next day it is all ok!
It seems to happen to me a lot lately, and so maybe I need to relax! eh?
Yesterday afternoon I went online to track where on this earth my passport was. IT SAID NOT SENT. still in Montreal! yes. confusion and upsetness set in for some time. Than I accepted it that (lucky me) I would get to stay at my parents for at least another week!

My mum just came and told me that my passport is in Calgary! What a shock! I told her just before bed last night- I do not expect it before Wednesday!!!! and now it is here!!!
Is this really all going to be done in the next week? Will I really be able to cross that border from now on with out fear of getting turned around? It's about time... and now I feel a little afraid... of the unknown...
The great big vast unknown, that is so full of the rest of my life...

i miss my puppy...

I do. I really really do. I know, some  of you are laughing. I know you are. admit it. smirking? just a little? yep. but then there are some of you who are like - girl, I soooo know what you mean. yep its true. I love my Zoe-girl....
Today, while talking to James, I heard him say- "Down Zoe". and I thought to my self , y'know I wouldn't even mind if that crazy raccoon was (o really she is a Cocker Spaniel not a raccoon for those of you who do not know) jumping up on me in her 'crazy-bunny-hop' way of jumping and leaping on to things. I wouldn't even mind cleaning up some of that yellow water she spills on my kitchen floor...( veeeeery rare. only when she is veeeery excited about seeing me. that is a fact.) and when she eats my panti-hose? I will prob'ly laugh and give her another pair.

so ya. some of you think I am kooked. and some of you 'totally get it'...

Which are you???

(it's ok be honest I won't be offended;))

consulate officers, city, airplanes, earaches and HOME!

I know, I know. Where have I been? In Montreal. yes. I was there! For 8 whole days! I will give you a quick little run down of my favorite places we saw!!!

Number 1 favorite!!!

Notre Dame Church
We watched a 'sound and light show' there!I wish I could describe it to you. but only one word comes to my mind an that is AWESOME. There was huge white 'sheets' hanging on the side of the church and than a huge projector screen in front of us that the projectors shone on, so it was like all around us!!! If you looked way up to the third floor you could see all the many projectors. It started out telling us all about how the church started, and went on to explain how they first built this church and than kept on remodeling it to get it where it is now!!!

Number 2 -
Montreal Poutine

We went here for supper after we toured the church! Yum. and sooo Canadian. The pool guy is totally not at all convinced.

We loved cruising around on the metro underground system! Using it as our main transportation! It was hilarious trying to figure out the the station names as the way they looked to be said was indeed a huge contrast to exactly how they were supposed to be said!!! Belanger - is- bee- lon-zhay !

The morning of our 'visit' we walked out to the bus at about  7 am. Lucky we did as the subway train was LOADED. ok. think cows/pigs-crammed-in-a-cattle-liner packed. You could not move with blowing over the person beside you!!!  We got there in good time though got signed in and waited! For about an hour for our 'visit' and honestly folks it lasted a whopping 7 MINUTES. and .3 seconds. or whatever. I did not time it. But it was short. and it was FUN:) weird. yes I know. But she told us she grew up in Fresno, and that my friends is a mere HOUR from where my beloved grew up!!!!!!!!!!! connections. o how I love you dear connections!!!! You make my life so much easier so many times.
Of course the first question she asked me was - what day did you get married and I STUTTERED. I DID. and the reason this is totally grinding on me is because the night before James and I lay in bed and he was double checking with me my birthday and our WEDDING DAY and my mothers maiden name and all kinds of pertinent questions and so I was telling him the answers thinking to myself. My am I ever glad that I know all of these, hopefully they ask me and not him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! O, yes, I know. Pride goes before a fall. and pride I had and fall I did. eeeeeeek. and I kid you not that if they would have asked James his answer would have been have been sure and steady with not  a stutter at all. (am I rambling. you can quit reading if you want;))
The rest of the interview went smooth. and she slid all that stack of papers under the window and said WELCOME TO CALIFORNIA.  and than I kissed James and than we went down the elevator.:) ya it was pretty cool!

Yes. the title. you are thinking airplanes, earaches where does this come in?? The airplane ride was AWFUL because of the earache. My ears were so plugged. Ya. any of you who have flown with plugged ears and a snotty nose will know. and I just told James bye for who knows how long and I was feeling blue about it all....
So when I landed and got OFF that plane I CRIED. I did. I was SOOO relieved to be OFF THAT PLANE.
AND HOME!!!!!!!!!! My dad was standing there and yes. I cried out of relief.

and now I am in a flap. because I was supposed to register with DHL (a courier service) to get my passport and other papers from the embassy mailed to me. (they keep my passport and mail it all to me here. not sure why. but its what they do.) BUT I cannot for the life of me find a copy of my passport therefore I can NOT even register to RECIEVE the package unless I have my passport number. O the trials. I went to the passport office today and yes. they had just closed. So we will try again tomorrow to see what can be done!!! (anybody have any ideas??)

what an exotic, unique, full city!!! wow!!
My Dr. appt. went great as far as I am concerned! I can not look at my results until the consulate officer has, as I might tamper with them!! The nurse was super impressed how up to date I was with my vaccines the only thing that was not it- a flu shot. Which has just become mandatory for ALL US immigrants! so 25$ later I am now flu immune!!! lol. (The day after I got struck with an awful cold, and I am still battling it...?)
Montreal is being good to us! James and I have mastered the art of 'the metro' and everyday it seems we find one more place to go discover! Tonight it is the Notre Dame church !!!We are going with some friends to witness this supposed to be fabulous light show!!!

Thanks for the prayers and for thinking of us!!!! We are really having a pile of fun and I will give you a better report when I have more time:)
Till then- Keep us in your thoughts as we still have that consulate officer to contend with!!!!
